Ms. Quinn has a diverse practice area. She handles employment law matters on behalf of both private and public employers, she represents Class 1 railroad companies in personal injury and property damage cases, and she handles a wide variety of litigation matters on behalf of public entity clients.
Ms. Quinn is an experienced trial attorney, who has tried cases in both state and federal court. She has obtained defense verdicts in cases seeking multi-million dollars in damages. She has also tried cases on the plaintiff’s side for a public entity client. In addition to her trial successes, Ms. Quinn has obtained summary judgment on behalf of her clients in cases alleging personal injury, wrongful death, breach of contract, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and civil rights violations. Her experience also includes representing clients in front of administrative bodies, such as the State Personnel Board, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the California Department of Industrial Relations.
Her employment law experience includes both counseling and defending employers on a wide variety of employment issues, such as wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims. She handles leave of absence and reasonable accommodation issues under both state and federal law. She conducts independent investigations in employment matters. Ms. Quinn has successfully represented clients in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in employment cases. One of those matters resulted in a published opinion, Gibson v. Office of the Attorney General, State of California, et al., 554 F.3d 759 (9th Cir. 2009).
A substantial portion of Ms. Quinn’s practice is defending railroad companies in personal injury, property damage, and employment matters. In her practice, she regularly defends Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims. Her railroad related employment work includes defending whistle-blower claims and matters involving interpretation of the Railway Labor Act.
Ms. Quinn represents private and public clients in personal injury and property damage matters. She has considerable experience with the California Tort Claims Act and regularly defends public entity clients against claims alleging dangerous conditions of public property under Government Code section 830, et seq. Her public entity work also includes litigating claims on behalf of public entities for damages sustained to public property and for theft of power.
She is licensed and regularly practices in California state courts and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern and Central Districts of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association and its Labor and Employment Law Section. She is a member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, serving on its Executive Committee. She is also a member of Women Lawyers of Sacramento, St. Thomas More Society of Sacramento, the Association of Workplace Investigators, and the International Utilities Revenue Protection Association. Ms. Quinn is also licensed to practice in the state of Nevada and is a member of the Washoe County Bar Association. She has been named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Northern California since 2011.
